Peaks and Valleys

One sees great things from the valley, only small things from the peak.
β€” G. K. Chesterton

It is all a matter of perspective and what we see from where we stand:
it takes great strength and determination to climb out of the valley.
Yet much of what gives life meaning and instills hope
is how we live when we find ourselves at a low point.

  1. Could it be that when we are at our lowest point we are able to see the WHY we are there? Often it requires a painful, ego-bruising introspection to ferret out the reason(s) that we are in emotional turmoil. The cause could be sin or some wrong decision on our part, or it could be something over which we had no control (like the loss of a loved one). The good news is — just that — the Good News — that Jesus is standing by (He never left). His healing presence allows us to heal and to move on, assuring us — once again — that He is always with us.
