The Doorway Into Thanks

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

  1. Prayer really can be that simple and that easy. Too many ‘experts’ in spirituality today offer complex methods for seeking and communing with our Creator-God. For me, it is simply being in a quiet place (even driving in my car with the radio off), just talking to my best friend, telling Him that I I love Him, thanking Him for all that He has given me, and how much I need Him in my life. Mary Oliver says the same thing here – in different words perhaps – but the meaning is the same.

Thank you, beautiful woman, for always reading our hearts and perceiving when we need to be reminded of certain truths….
